
Sakarya University (SAU) and the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BRSA) organized the “Workshop on Participation Funds and Unit Value in the Light of Islamic Law Considerations”.
Participation banks, academics from the fields of theology, finance and economics, and representatives of public institutions participated in the workshop held at SAU Culture and Congress Center on May 21-22, 2016.
Participants discussed the shariah problems related to the evaluation of participation funds and unit value calculation and developed solutions. In the workshop, where problematic areas were identified in order to ensure a sharing between participation account holders and participation banks in accordance with fairness and Islamic principles, concrete solutions were developed for some problems, while it was emphasized that stakeholders should conduct in-depth studies for some problems.
